Troop 746 Fun at Timberline
On the weekend of March 13, 2009, the Boy Scouts headed to West Virginia to ski at a ski resort called Timberline. We arrived Friday night, unpacked, and got to bed. The next morning, we got up bright and early, got our skis, ate breakfast and headed right to the slopes. If it was your first time skiing, you had an hour lesson with a ski instructor. If not, you could go right ahead and start skiing. The ski resort had different levels of slopes. The levels were green, blue, black diamond, and double black diamond. Some of the slopes’ names were Salamander, Twister, and Thunderstruck. Around noon, it was time for lunch. We got our meal tickets and went to the lodge. For lunch, they had pizza, burgers, hotdogs, and chili. You were allowed to ski until 9:00. Around 9:30, everyone from our troop gathered in the lodge to sing Happy Birthday to my mother. Then everyone headed back to our bunkhouses to get some rest. The next morning, we did it all over again. Timberline was one of the most fun trips, in my opinion, and I hope we do it again.

Scoutmaster Bill Freeburger
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of long time Scoutmaster Bill Freeburger of Boy Scout Troop 746 of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fullerton. |
In 2008 a couple of our scouts expressed an interest in documenting their experiences on Troop 746 camping trips. Here in their own words are their experiences. |
Here is one Scout's impression of a previous camping trip....
Camp Ware 27 Feb- 1 Mar 09
On Friday night, everyone picked their bunks, since we were in a cabin. We also had a snack of chips and fruit. We then all went to bed to get ready for tomorrow. Breakfast was sausage and pancakes. In the morning, we hiked on the green trail, which leads to the bridge. The bridge was closed, but we climbed on the rocks instead. After getting back to camp, we ate a lunch of grilled sandwiches and cold cuts. At one, we all went to the shooting range from one to four. I shot seven times, a total of 35 shots. That afternoon, we had free time until dinner. Dinner was Parmesan chicken and noodles. Earlier that day, some of the Scouts helped the Girl Scouts in the other cabin with their firewood. To thank us, they brought over s’mores supplies for us to share. After a long day, we all went to bed. Sunday started off with a breakfast of bacon and eggs. After breakfast, we had a prayer service. Then, we all had to clean up for the next hour and a half. Next, we all went home. I had tons of fun. The next camping trip is the ski trip. That’s going be tons of fun for some, and a horrible experience for the unlucky.
See ya later! -

Troop 746 Eagle Scout News
Troop 746 Eagle Scout Requirements are now included in one location. All future Eagle Scouts, especially those who have obtained the rank of Life should make note of the requirements on this page. |
| Troop 746 Tee Shirts One of the hottest things going on is the appeal of the designer Troop 746 tee shirts.
Our very own Mr. Mike Cox is leading the effort to see that every boy in the state of Maryland,
I mean everyone in Troop 746 has his own 746 tee shirt. If you want to know the what is available
just print and fill out the order form and turn
it in to Mr. Mike Cox with a check made out to Troop 746 to pay for the stuff you are ordering. |
Inclement Weather Policy
If the weather is inclement enough to close the public schools, (and St. Joseph School follows the Baltimore County Inclement Weather Policy) all Scout activities will also be canceled for that evening.
Troop Uniform Policy
Class A Uniform should be worn at all times except during the meetings that fall between 1 May and 1 September. During those summer months a Class B uniform may be worn. |

The Hiker was a monthly publication that summarized activities of Troop 746, but now we have this nifty little web site. Click on the links below if you want to read about the activities of our troop.

There will be no meeting this Friday 3 July. The Troop hopes everyone has a happy and safe holiday. We return to regular meetings on 10 July at 7:30 (PLC at 6:30). Class B uniform.
Congrats to Ben and Josh, Troop 746's latest Eagle Scouts.
Sea Base and Philmont are high adventure trips that have garnered high interest from our scouts. Mr Steve is leading one crew and Mr. Joe is leading another crew for the Philmont trip (Scouts you will not have to ride crosscountry). Mr Rick leading the Seabase trip. The estimated cost for either is going to be around $1,600-1,800), however the troop will likely pick up a portion of the expense for the Scouts attending. Contact Mr. Steve, Mr Joe or Mr Rick if you are interested in going. For those Scouts and Scouters going on either of these trips or attending Summer Camp you will need to complete the new medical form. Here is a link to the form.
The 2009 calendar is now the default calendar page. To see the 2008 calendar click on this link.
The next committee meeting will be at 7:30 PM on 8 July. Please bring your ideas. |
Next Event |
The next event is the Gettysburg camping trip. Meet at the Scout building on Friday at 5:30PM, leave promptly at 6:00PM and return around noon on Sunday.
Mr. Ton Timmons has created both an Interactive
STAND Volunteer Certification Form and also a Merit
Badge Counselor Application form that is interactive. Just open them up in the latest version of Adobe Acrobat
and type away.
